Both Trey and Trent received the "Reader of the Month" award in their class this month! It was so exciting to have both of my boys being recognized at the same assembly for the same thing. We were so proud of them.
After the assembly I was off to Glen Ivy Day Spa to celebrate Kristi's 19th Birthday. Much love to Darin for taking the day off to be daddy and for watching Erika's kids too!
Fun in the mud
Relaxing and reading Twilight (again!)
I got home just in time to dress up the kids and head over to our ward Halloween party. The kids loved dressing in coordinating costumes this year. Trent read Peter Pan over the summer and has been obsessed with the idea of dressing up as the characters from his favorite story. I was hoping to find a Wendy costume for Julia, but we decided to have two Tinkerbell's instead. Julia has much more of a Tinkerbell personality, or should I say ATTITUDE, anyway.
Julia won the award for "Prettiest Costume" at the Halloween Party.
After being away all day Friday, I was sad to be leaving again, but my Grandma Kirkpatrick has been in the hospital for nearly a month and I really needed to go see her. It was fun driving down to San Diego with Jonathan and visiting the hospital that we were born in nearly 30 years ago!
It was sad to see Grandma looking so sick, but her spirits were high and she couldn't have been happier to see us. She kept saying "this is just what I imagined it would be like". The trip was priceless.
The rest of the weekend was spent making phone calls for Prop 8 and attending church on Sunday. For Darin, Sunday is as long as any other work day, he leaves at 6:30 am and is home between 3 and 5pm. When he came home I just wanted to hug him and never let go. Even though the weekend was busy with lots wonderful things, just being together again, all 6 of us, laughing and playing together, was the happiest part of it all!
