Dodger Dogs and a Birthday Boy

It's been nearly 4 months since I last signed into my blogger account... pathetic, I know.  I wasn't even sure I remembered my password.  The summer flew by like a whirl wind and the first few weeks of school have been a roller coaster ride, but more on that later.
It's a quarter past ten, the children finally fell asleep, I turned off their reading lights and came to the kitchen to pack the lunchboxes,  but stopped about 5 feet short of the refrigerator here at my desk.  I should have known this would happen, one of my goals for the 2010-2011 school year was to turn off all electronic devices at 10pm and lay in bed, where I would allow myself 30 minutes to read, think, snuggle with the hubby, you get the idea.  We aren't even a full month into the school year and here I am at a quarter after 10, deciding it is time to finally blog again.

I can't help it.

 Today I become the mother of a 9 year-old.

I found myself doing what I always do on birthdays:  I thought back on that day, 9 years ago, when my belly was stretched out like a torpedo and I could feel him inside of me, tapping, pushing, telling me he was in there and was ready to make me a mother.  I brought out the photographs, of his first moments, hours, days.  We looked at them, each one and marveled at the miracle of his life.  My sweet son had tears, he said "Mom, you're making me cry!"  I love that kid.

He is so sweet, so sensitive, so smart.

Tomorrow Darin is taking him with a few of his friends to a Dodger Game.  They are leaving VERY early, with the hopes of watching batting practice and catching a few fly balls.  Trent can not wait!

This morning we managed to sneak out of the house early, just the two of us, and go out to breakfast together.  We pass I HOP on our way to soccer practices, and almost every time Trent will beg to stop there and eat.  It is such a crack up!  I thought it would be the perfect birthday surprise, and it was :)

Tonight we played baseball at the park with family, ate "Dodger Dogs" and had cake and presents for our birthday boy.

Happy 9th Birthday Trent!

Now onto packing those lunches....
