Bumps & Bruises

Julia the climber + tile floor = CONCUSSION scare
& GOOSE EGG.

Just as I was leaving for Enrichment last night Julia fell HARD off the kitchen counter and hit her head on the tile floor (one more reason to add to my long list of why I hate my tile floor). Darin called me in the middle of Enrichment Meeting to let me know that after I had left she had fallen asleep and then woke up and threw up. Even though Darin thought she was feeling and acting fine, I rushed home and took her to Urgent Care. She told me her "eyes were dark" when she was sitting on daddy's lap with ice on her head and her head was "hurting and feeling funny". I must have missed all the drama when I was at church, because she was her normal, happy self when I got home. She was so excited to go to the doctor instead of going to bed like the rest of the kids!

After checking her "goose egg", her eyes for dilation, and doing a few coordination and balance tests, the doctor gave her a clean bill of health and advised me to check on her a few times during the night. I am so thankful that she didn't get a concussion! The thought of her little brain hitting the inside of her scull made me feel physically sick to my stomach.

Showing her muscles!

Would you believe that this morning she was back up on the kitchen counter trying to get herself a bowl for cereal? Yes! That's my independent, strong-willed daughter! Oh how I love this little girl. We had a talk about not climbing on the counter (again) and I had to remind her about her accident, she had seriously forgotten about it already!
