Some of you know that last June a close friend of mine, Travis Alexander, was brutally murdered. Most of my family and friends remember Travis, he spent a lot of time at my house when we were teenagers. We actually met at Stake Youth Conference, we were in the same "Family". I was 14 and he was 16, and he had just become active and was invited to Youth Conference by the Young Men in his ward. Travis was technically my first boyfriend, he took me on my first date the day after my 16th birthday. Even though life took us different ways, we always remained good friends. Travis was a good friend to me during some trying and emotional times in my families life when I was a teenager. I really think that is why we had such a strong friendship. We wrote each other faithfully during his entire mission, and he was there supporting me in the sealing room of the LA Temple when Darin and I were married. I actually found Travis online just 3 weeks before his death. I am so thankful for that contact with him. He was a wonderful person and an example to many. He had a drive and passion about sharing the gospel and always inspired me to be a better person. Travis's murder was a shock to all that knew him. He was well-liked and had no enemies.
Police have arrested one of his ex-girlfriends for the crime. She is being charged with 1 felony count of murder in the 1st degree- Premeditated. There has been a lot of speculation about why and how she could kill Travis. I am just so saddened by the whole thing; it is such a tragedy. My heart goes out to Travis's family and his closest friends, their loss has been great. I am thankful for our knowledge of the the gospel of Jesus Christ, of His love and sacrifice for us, and of the plan of salvation. I know Travis's spirit lives, and that we will see Him again.
The murder has attracted a lot of media coverage. I just found out that Saturday, March 7th on CBS at 10 PM, Travis's story is going to be aired on 48 Hours. I hope that it pays tribute to him and his life. No one is perfect, everyone makes mistakes, I'm sure the show will tell us all about his. No matter what is shown, Travis didn't deserve to die. He had a lot to offer the world, and I will always remember him for the good person he was.

Wow Janell...I just got chills reading this and looking at the news clip. That is SO sad and I am sorry for your loss as well. I know how hard it can be to lose a friend.
I am going to try to watch that if I can. Thanks, and again sorry. And of course no one deserves to die, especially in that type of a way. What a horrible thing.

I had recorded it and just watched it a couple weeks ago. That's really sad. No one deserves to die. Did you know the girl? A lot of people didn't like her by what some of his friends said on TV. Sorry about the loss.
