Boo Boo

With all of the climbing and jumping she's been doing around here and her new sense of independence, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. Lauren JUMPED off of the trampoline onto the grass (instead of using the chair to get down) and wasn't able to walk on her left foot at all afterward. What's amazing is she never cried and she wanted to keep playing. But when she couldn't walk, wouldn't get off the swing and wouldn't let me out of her sight I had that feeling in the pit of my stomach that it was indeed broken. The x-rays actually didn't show any visible fracture, but we agreed with the doctor to cast it for a week.

The first few hours with her cast were heart-breaking. She cried and kicked and begged us to take it off, but by the end of the night she was walking and playing and no doubt enjoying all of the attention we were giving her :)

This picture was taken before she went to the hospital. She's holding on to her owie.

After realizing Mom and Dad really couldn't take it off she dried her tears and asked for a picture.
We took out the Boo Boo book, that was a gift to Julia when she broke her leg at Lauren's age...
here's a reminder...

Our Boo Boo Book has come in handy so many times.
This poem is so cute that I thought I'd share:

You broke your toy!
You broke a plate!
You broke a lamp shade
and your skate.

The only thing
that's worse to do,
is when you break
a part of you!

You run too fast. You trip and fall,
and land real funny on your ball.
Something snaps. You start to moan.
The doctor says,
"You broke a bone!"

An x-ray shows the bone inside,
where it broke, and why you cried.
A cast will keep it safe and strong,
for (just a week)...
that's not so long!

Oh, I'm so glad she's doing ok. Tell our little Lauren that we love her and have been praying for her.
