We had a birthday

This Valentines Day...
we had a BIRTHDAY.

This is my ONE year old.

One year ago...
I received the greatest Valentines gift I'll ever get..

a perfectly round,
9 lb 2 oz,
dark-haired

BABY GIRL.

We still hadn't agreed on a name,
I had promised Darin he could choose...
he walked over to our newborn baby and studied her sweet little face
then picked up his journal and wrote...

"Today at 12:06 am Lauren Elizabeth Salmon was born"

Little did I know...

Lauren would steal our hearts
every moment from that day on.

The baby girl who slept through the night since the day she was born. Who snuggled in my arms, and never cried a whimper. Whose soft little head I would stroke and smell,
has turned a year old.

She is the baby who taught me that I really hadn't experienced it all yet. That there was more to love about babies and motherhood than I ever thought was possible.

She is the one who inspired me to cherish every moment while they are all young and not to take it for granted. Having her made me realize how much my big kids have grown, and how quickly time passes. Having her has made me wish time would freeze, that I could keep my babies little forever and never have to watch them grow.

I can honestly say I have enjoyed being a mother more this past year than ever before. Having a baby in the house again with 3 older kids has been more fun than I ever dreamed it would be.

We celebrated Lauren's birthday by inviting all of our family over for a yummy breakfast. We cooked up crepes and topped them with strawberries and whipped cream.

It was perfect...

Just like Lauren.

Lauren LOVED her crepes (what a surprise... she loves to eat EVERYTHING!)

Some of our family

Uncle Jay and Julia

Grandma and Lauren (checkin out the party decor)
