Someone is 6

Yesterday Trey turned 6!
He has had an entire weekend full of birthday celebrations.
Friday, a party at McDonalds with friends;
Saturday, a celebration in San Diego with Grandparents and cousins,
and a free dinner at Red Robin (yum);
and today another celebration at Grandma's with more family and cousins.
What a lucky kid!

Friday night I pulled out his baby book and thumbed through memories of my pregnancy and also the story of his birth. Remembering how excited I was to have been able to get pregnant without fertility treatments, and to have another boy, a brother for Trent. Having the two of them, just 18 months apart has been wonderful. They are each other's favortie playmate and best-friend.

Trey's birth was by far my most complicated delivery. I developed toxemia and had to have an emergency induction. I remember feeling like I had just run a marathon, my heart was pounding, I was out of breath, dizzy and weak.
I finally told Darin I'd better go to the hospital, when the doctor checked my blood pressure it was 152/108, all the alarms started sounding and a team of a dozen people suddenly showed up, hooked me up to all kinds of gadgets and a few hours later Trey was born.
He had a perfectly round head, light blonde hair, a cleft in his chin, and a sweet little face. I was so sick that I couldn't care for him for the first 24 hours. They would bring him to me to nurse, then take him away. That was hard. But after it was all said and done, I had my baby, my sweet baby Trey.

I spend this morning searching through photo albums, looking at pictures of Trey at every stage of his life. Honestly, I can't imagine life before him. He is my sensitive, sweet son. A good friend to everyone. We literally could've had 2 dozen kids at his party, he has so many friends! Everyone loves to play with Trey because he likes to share, he loves to see other kids win the game, he cheers them on. He's the kind of kid who wants to do want you want to do, and he's happy about it! He finds humor in everything and loves to make others laugh. What a gift and blessing his little spirit has been to our family.
I adore him.

Here are a few of my favorite pictures of Trey:

Trey, I love you so much.
I love your goofy, silly faces,
and the way you make me laugh,
I love your ears and your webbed toes,
your tiny toosh and big green eyes.
I love that you love pickles like me,
and mustard just like I do.
I love to listen to you read,
to play nertz with you,
and to hear all about all of your pokemon cards.
Thank you for always having a smile on your face,
even when you're making your bed and emptying the recyling every day.
Thank you for the pictures you draw me and letters you write,
I love them all!

I hope you had a very happy 6th Birthday!
Love,
Mom
